Summary:

This workshop will outline theoretical and practical lessons learned from research, clinical, and non-clinical settings using a range of substances including psilocybin, ayahuasca, ketamine, and MDMA in the treatment of eating disorders. Special considerations for medicine work in this context will be reviewed, from preparation and dosing to integration and beyond. This workshop will also review the role of supportive others (family member or close friend), in line with advances in the field of ED treatment.Learning Objectives:

1. Discuss the common themes that arise in medicine work for eating disorders.

2. List 3 ways practitioners can engage family members to reduce systemic distress and optimize outcomes.

About the Presenter:

Adele Lafrance is a clinical psychologist, research scientist, and developer of emotion-focused treatment modalties. She supports the research of the model and maintains a practice of supervision and training for clinicians worldwide. A best-selling author of a popular book for parents, Adele is also active in the research and practice of psychedelic medicine for eating disorders, with a focus on ayahuasca, MDMA, psilocybin and ketamine. She has a particular interest in mechanisms of healing, including emotion processing, spirituality, love, and family-based psychedelic medicine.
